Find your people.
Trading is mostly something we do alone. It doesn’t mean we have to figure everything out alone.
This isn’t about more noise.
Trading communities can become exhausting. Discords, YouTube channels, X feeds, chat rooms, opinions, alerts and twenty different people telling you twenty different things. At some point, more information stops helping.
We’re members of other communities ourselves, but we’re increasingly selective about where we spend our attention. StreetLight isn’t asking you to abandon everyone else. Find the people who make you better. Then actually get to know them.
Take the work seriously. Not yourself.
We’re looking for people who take the work seriously without taking themselves too seriously. People who can share a chart and explain what they saw, admit when they got it wrong, challenge an idea without attacking the person behind it, celebrate a good trade without pounding their chest, talk honestly about the psychological side of trading, and help somebody when they can. Humility is something we admire and something we try to practise ourselves.
Trading can also be difficult to talk about outside of trading. Most of the people in our lives don’t really understand what we do — and that’s okay. But explaining it can quickly turn into confusion, concern or advice we weren’t looking for. Sometimes you just want to talk to somebody who already understands the language, the pressure and why any of this matters.
Eventually, we want this to become a more private place where those conversations can happen away from the general public. We want to know the people in this room. They watch our backs. We watch theirs.
Respect the room.
A good community only works when the people in it protect what makes it good. Disagree. Challenge an idea. Tell somebody when you think they’re wrong. We expect that.
But if you’re here to stir up trouble, attack people, create drama or make the room worse for everyone else, we’ll ask you to leave. Actually, we probably won’t ask.
This isn’t about policing opinions. It’s about protecting the room. We’re trying to build a place where people can disagree, learn from each other, have a laugh and still trust the people they’re trading beside. If you’re part of it, help us keep it that way.
You don’t need another membership.
We’re not trying to buy people’s loyalty with giveaways. There are already plenty of communities built around free accounts, promotions, contests and constant incentives. If we’re ever offered something genuinely useful for the StreetLight community and we can pass it along, great. But giveaways will never be the reason this community exists.
If and when we charge for access, the intention is to keep it inexpensive. Traders already spend enough money on evaluations, activation fees, platforms, data and tools. We never want somebody deciding between the tool they actually need, another evaluation, or paying for this community.
Keep your money where you need it. We’re here to trade.
Find the room
that fits.
You don’t need twenty communities. You need a few good ones.
StreetLight may become one of yours. It may not. That’s okay. Whatever community you choose is up to you.
We’d rather somebody join StreetLight because the philosophy, the people and the way we approach trading fit them — not because we dangled something free in front of them.
Coming soon
The lights aren’t on yet.
The private StreetLight community is still being built. We’re building the foundation first, and we’ll turn on the lights when there’s something worth joining.
If you’d like to know when that happens, stay posted.
